The Kang Yatse II & Dzo Jongo expedition is more than just a climb; it is a gateway into the high-altitude realm of the 6,000-meter giants. This journey begins in the vibrant town of Leh, winding through the stark, lunar landscapes of the Hemis National Park, where ancient monasteries and Mani stones stand as silent guardians of the trail. As you traverse the emerald pastures of Nimaling, the majestic throne of Kang Yatse II beckons. Conquering its 6,250-meter crest reveals a 360-degree theater of the Karakoram and Zanskar ranges. But the adventure doesn’t end there. After catching your breath, you will pivot toward Dzo Jongo East, a peak that tests your resolve with its technical ridges and rewards you with views that stretch into Tibet. Designed for fit trekkers looking to transition into mountaineering, this expedition blends the cultural soul of Ladakh with the raw, exhilarating challenge of the Himalayan sky.

Day 1 Arrival in Leh
Arrive at Leh Airport and transfer to your hotel for rest and acclimatization.
Day 2 Rest and active acclimatization in Leh
Explore Leh’s local sites and take light walks to adjust to the altitude.
Day 3 Drive to Sara Village and short hike
Drive to Sara village, then enjoy an easy hike before camping overnight.
Day 4 Trek from Sara to Umlung
Trek through alpine terrain to reach Umlung village and camp overnight.
Day 5 Trek from Umlung to Thuchungtse campsite
Continue trekking through valleys to Thuchungtse campsite, preparing for higher altitude.
Day 6 Trek to Kangyatse Base Camp
Trek to Kangyatse Base Camp near the glacier and set up camp.
Day 7 Acclimatization and training at Base Camp
Rest, acclimatize, and receive climbing training to prepare.
Day 8 Summit day 6250m
Begin early climb to Kang-yatse Peak 2 (6,250m) and descend back to Base Camp for rest.
Day 9 Hike to Dzojongo Basecamp
After the Breakfast we will hike towards the Dzojongo Basecamp
Day 10 Rest and Summit
Today we will full day rest in the Basecamp and the midnight we will summit towards the Dzojongo.
Day 11 Back from Summit and Rest
Back from Summit and Rest
Day 12 Buffer Day
Incase of Bad weather or Contingency day
Day 13 Trek from Base Camp to Chokdho via Kongmaru La Pass, then drive to Leh
Cross the scenic pass, camp at Chokdho, and return to Leh for overnight or departure.
Day 14Departure to Home
- Hotel in Leh with meals
- All meals on the trek and on Expedition.
- Individual member climbing gear like , Climbing boots Scarpa, Crampons, Harness, Helmet, ice axe, carabiners, rope, sleeping bag, mattress etc.

Essential Technical & Trekking Gear
- Technical Gear ( Will be Provided by Guide The Himalaya : Mountaineering boots (Scarpa plastic boots, it can Stiff and heavy) , Crampons (10-12 points), Ice Axe (walking type), Climbing Harness, Helmets, carabiners, Rope.
- Rest of the gear you need to bring with You. Some you can also rent here in Leh.
- Backpack & Trekking: 60-70L rucksack with rain cover or Duffle bag + 20-30L summit daypack.
- Trekking Poles: Strongly recommended for stability. (You can also rent here.)
- Sleeping Gear: -Sleeping Bag and Sleeping mat. We will providing. Unless you want to bring your own.
Clothing (Layering System)
- Base Layers: 1 or 2 sets of thermal tops and bottoms.
- Mid-Layers: Fleece jacket/pullover, fleece pants.
- Outer Layer: (Heavy down jacket ( you can also rent here, unless you want bring your own) windproof/waterproof hard shell jacket and pants.
- Trek Pants: 2 pairs of quick-dry trekking pants.
Head & Hand Protection
- Gloves: fleece liner gloves, and winds topper or waterproof gloves.
- Headwear: Warm beanie/woollen cap, buff or balaclava to cover the face and neck.
- Sun Protection: Sun hat with wide brim, high-quality Category 3 or 4 UV-protection sunglasses (mandatory to prevent snow blindness).
Footwear
- Boots: Comfortable trekking boots.
- Socks: 4-5 pairs of good trekking socks.
- Gaiters: Essential for snow, specifically on summit night. (We will be providing)
Personal Items & Miscellaneous
- Hydration: 2 – 3 x 1Litre Nalgene bottles need for each person.
- Lighting: Headtorch with extra batteries (essential for starting early morning on summit day).
- Skin Protection: SPF 50+ sunscreen, lip balm, and moisturizer (high-altitude sun is harsh).
- Toiletries: Wet wipes, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, personal medications.
- We will be carrying Small First Add Kit.
